Child Care

Meeker County like most rural county’s in MN is working on improving Child Care. This includes working with partners to help in these areas.

* Work with current providers to enhance their financial sustainability, work to help with regulatory issues/permitting and help the current providers esp. in home providers the ability to do what they love long term.

* Work with Non profits, Co. Social Services, Chamber of Commerce, School Districts, City’s and private business to look for ways to enhance and fill gaps where gaps exist.

* Future Child Care Study and Assessment to know where we are today, and what needs we have for the future. This will help us to develop child care solutions for the future.

* Develop Technical Assistance programs for start up child care in the future using partners such as First Children’s Finance and other like non profits/agencies. These experts can help with start ups, help existing facilities and planning for the future needs.

First Children's Finance Rural Child Care Innovation Program
In seeing the need for childcare in Meeker County, a committee was formed to assist in finding a solution for this need. This past summer the committee submitted an application to First Children’s Finance’s Rural Child Care Innovation Program to help do an assessment of Meeker County. First Children’s Finance has chosen Meeker County to participate in their Rural Child Care Innovation Program. The Rural Child Care Innovation Program is a community engagement process designed to develop right-sized solutions to address the needs of childcare and early education for the communities selected to participate. Over an 18-month period, chosen communities will focus on opportunities and challenges they are facing with childcare. First Children’s Finance helps facilitate the conversation and provides expertise, tools, and resources to support the creation and implementation of solutions to address childcare shortages in rural communities.
